Help kick off the 2009 Summer Reading Program
“Be Creative @ Your Library”
Come to the Clymer room and see musical instruments up close! Talk with musicians! You will even be able to try playing some of them!
We will begin the event with a showing on our big screen of a short video, “Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom”, a brief and entertaining history of musical instruments. Afterwards, you can visit one on one with the musicians.
Kirk Emmons has graciously agreed to bring his drums and other percussion instruments to add to the fun! Thank you so much to Mr. Emmons!
Kelsey Koehn has agreed to bring her fiddle and a cello. Thanks, Kelsey!
Angela Zepeda, president of the El Dorado Municipal Band will be there with her saxophone. She will be bringing other members of the band as well.
Kevin Pickrell, also a member of the El Dorado Municipal Band, will bring his trumpet. Kevin also plays with the 35th Infantry Division National Guard Band . Kevin is playing at the Kansas Veterans and Family Reunion (formerly known as the Viet Nam Vets reunion) in July. He is vice-president of the organization and staff trumpter. Kevin serves with John Templin as a co-director of the Butler Community College pep band.
Dale Tower (Mr. Dale!) will bring a mandolin and maybe a guitar.
I will be there with a guitar, electric guitar, autoharp, ukulele, violin and an electric keyboard.
More musicians have been added to the list! Don Koke,owner/operator of the Iron Horse Concert Hall is bringing his guitar and a saw! Gene Hermann from the El Dorado Municipal Band will bring his Sousaphone! Other musicians from the El Dorado Municipal Band will also be there.
Thank you to all who have helped put this fun event together. A special thanks to the musicians who have generously consented to donate their time and knowledge.
